Flowtech design and supply a cold water booster set and heating pressurisation equipment to a Manchester building.
In late 2013 Flowtech were asked to get involved with the design and supply of both a transfer cold water booster set and then a larger storage tank in the roof area of Clarence House, Manchester.
The building was being refurbished by Globe Building Management and they had employed a leading mechanical contractor to design and supply equipment to the project.
Flowtech looked at the best ways logistically to supply water through the building and due to the lower pressure requirements of supplying toilets and basins, a tank in the roof space and a gravity feed was agreed as the most reliable from of supply.
A sectional PWSE tank was supplied and fitted in the roof area due to limitations with space and a Flowboost IDC-E booster set with 500 litre break tank were also fitted in a basement plant room. The booster unit transferred water at 4.0 Bar to the top of the building to ensure that the larger tank in the roof space was continually filled with water and prepared for the full days demands. Due to the poor pressure from the mains, it was not possible to provide water to the tank directly.
Showers on the lower floors were provided by gravity as the static height of the building gave more than adequate pressure without the use of booster equipment, thus saving capital cost and wasting energy from un-necessary pumping equipment.
