Flowtech Water Solutions’ Martin completed the ZipWire Challenge to raise money for charity!
Not content with successfully completing the daunting Zip Wire Challenge and raising more than £500 for Claire House Children’s Hospice, Martin Donaldson from Flowtech Water Solutions is already gearing up for a new challenge. Read on for more details and to find out how you can support Martin in his once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
In April, we reported that Martin was to take on the Zip Wire challenge in Ffestiniog, North Wales and had created a JustGiving web page to encourage charitable donations for Claire House, a hospice offering essential support and respite to seriously-ill children and their families. Martin completed the challenge on June 14th and we’re sure you will join everyone at Flowtech Water Solutions in offering him massive congratulations!
A morning of blue skies greeted Martin on the day of the challenge and, after a 2-hour drive to Snowdonia, he arrived at the site to be greeted by the imposing sight of the famed zip wires. Martin completed a safety briefing and was fitted with a harness and helmet – the helmet supported a camera to capture first-hand images of his experiences.
First was a ride on a small(ish!) zip wire to get Martin into the swing of things before he was strapped securely in for the main event. The countdown happened and Martin began his exhilarating journey, which looks to us like fantastic but frightening fun – check out the video from Martin’s headcam and see if you agree!
Martin would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who donated to the campaign and to let you know details of his next challenge, which he will complete with a group of other intrepid adventurers:
“Snowdon at Night is a new and fantastic challenge where I will be hiking to the highest summit in England and Wales throughout the night! Using torches and moonlight, our group will set off at around 9pm after registering at the Electric Mountain Cafe at the foot of Snowdon. The ascent will take approximately 10 hours, before we will gather at the top to watch the spectacular sunrise. Following the descent, I’ll be celebrating the group’s achievements with a big breakfast!”
