Flowtech design and supply cold water booster system and heating pressurisation equipment to London high rise.
Flowtech Water Solutions were recently requested by a major North West HVAC contractor, to provide equipment to a project they had secured in London.
The building was around 38 metres high and special consideration had to be made to both main cold water, CAT 5 and heating systems. The cold water booster set was working above 6 Bar pressure and it was imperative that the Flowboost IDC-H unit was utilised. The three pump unit has in built “water hammer” protection that would ensure that in the event of power or water loss within the building, when the booster was re-energised, the possibility water hammer or hydraulic shock was eliminated.
As with all Flowboost products, the units have an impressive specification which is designed to ensure total reliability for the customer. Each pump and inverter combination is coupled with an individual transducer and dedicated expansion vessel per pump. This specification means that in the event of any component failure, it is omitted from the pump cycle and an engineer can attend to repair. This omission does not affect the remaining pumps on the unit.
The heating system was topped up by a Flowpress FSDA 5 – 2 high pressure unit in a robust steel cabinet. This was coupled to 2 x Flowpress CHP-V 300 litre expansion vessels to maintain a constant pressure within the system. Due to the height of the system, extensive calculations were made to ensure that the system pressure was maintained at a desirable level. Details and technical specifications of the FSDA range can be found in the products section.
The Urban Nest building is now occupied and the client is more than satisfied with the systems.
